What is a marketplace?
A repo with a marketplace.json that lists plugins. Add it once, then install any plugin it lists.
Is a marketplace safe to add?
Adding one only lists its plugins. Nothing runs until you install a plugin from it.
Can one repo be a marketplace and a plugin?
Yes. Many authors publish a single plugin from its own marketplace.
