Spektral for Claude Code

Bring the design system you already have into Spektral without restructuring it first. This plugin adds one skill, spektral-adopt. Run it from the root of the repository that holds your component library and ask Claude Code to "bring this design system into Spektral".

What it does

1. Adopts your library in place. It surveys your repository (framework, where the library lives, file naming, styling, tokens, Storybook, public exports) and confirms what it found with you. Then it writes Spektral's configuration beside your library. Nothing inside your library is moved, edited or deleted.
2. Adds what the cloud features need. It writes a component spec per component, derived from your source and stating only what the source shows. With your agreement, it also drafts a system-guidance.yaml for your team to review.
3. Reports what works. It lists, feature by feature, what works in Spektral today and what converting to Spektral's structure would add.
4. Converts only when you ask. First it pilots one component next to the original. Then it converts one component at a time, and each one must keep the same public API, token values, rendering and accessibility before the next one starts.

What it reads, writes, runs and sends

• Reads files in your repository to understand your design system.
• Writes only new files beside your library, during adoption: platforms/<your-library>/platform.yml, platforms/platforms.json, spektral.yml, specs/*.spec.yaml, and system-guidance.yaml if you agree to it. It never edits an existing file without asking. During conversion, which only happens when you ask for it, it changes your library one component at a time and shows you each change.
• Runs read-only shell commands to inspect your repository, such as listing files and reading package.json. During conversion, it runs your own build and test scripts to check each component.
• Sends nothing. The plugin has no hooks, no MCP servers and no network calls of its own. Anything Claude reads is handled by Claude Code as usual.

• Claude Code, with access to the repository that holds your design system.
• Spektral, to open the adopted project.
